The CMS and ONC’s interoperability proposed rules mandate and progressively enforce FHIR endpoints and FHIR workflows. This includes a set of APIs, a well structured way of modeling and storing the information, as well as a set of guidelines and approaches (implementation guides or IGs) that describe how to use FHIR to achieve your organization’s goals.
